EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 158 - AMENDING
EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 80 DATED MARCH 05, 1999 BY REVERTING THE COMMISSION
ON FILIPINO LANGUAGE TO THE ADMINISTRATIVE SUPERVISION OF THE OFFICE OF
THE PRESIDENT
WHEREAS,
Republic Act No. 7104 dated August 14, 1991, creating the Commission on
Filipino Language was enacted by Congress pursuant to the mandate of
Sec. 9, Article XIV of the Constitution;
WHEREAS, among the agencies which were transferred to the National
Commission for Culture and the Arts for policy and program
coordination, only the Commission on Filipino Language was created by
virtue of a Constitutional mandate;
WHEREAS, the special recognition given to it by the fundamental law of
the land significantly implies its distinct role to develop, propagate
and preserve Filipino and other languages;
WHEREAS, in order to effectively pursue the said tasks, the Commission
must be returned to the administrative supervision of the Office of the
President.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH EJERCITO ESTRADA, President of the
Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby
order:
