MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 154 -
AUTHORIZING PARTICIPATION IN THE THIRD NATIONAL SCHOOL ENROLLMENT DAY
ON JANUARY 27, 1997
The National School Enrollment Day (NSED),
which is held on the last Monday of January every year, as provided for
under DECS Order No. 65, s. 1994, is basically intended to provide DECS
with a reliable basis in planning the number of assignment of teachers,
classrooms, textbooks and other school equipment and facilities for
every school opening.
To ensure greater success in the implementation of this program, all
officials and employees in both the national and local governments, as
well as in government owned and/or controlled corporations and
government financial institutions, who intend to enroll their children
(at least 6 years old by June 2, 1997) in Grade I in any public school
in the country, are hereby authorized to participate in the Third NSED
on January 27, 1997, and shall not be considered absent from office,
provided they submit to their office heads a certification of such
participation issued by the school official concerned. Heads of
government offices, however, should take necessary measures to ensure
non-disruption of the normal work flow.
