REPUBLIC ACT NO. 634 - AN
ACT ADOPTING THE HONORABLE MILLARD E. TYDINGS, UNITED STATES SENATOR
FROM MARYLAND AND THE HONORABLE JOHN MCDUFFIE, FORMER MEMBER OF THE
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE UNITED STATES FROM THE FIRST DISTRICT
OF ALABAMA, AS SONS OF THE PHILIPPINES, AND CONFERRING UPON THEM ALL
THE RIGHTS, PRIVILEGES AND PREROGATIVES OF PHILIPPINE CITIZENSHIP |
WHEREAS, the Honorable Millard E.
Tydings, United States Senator from Maryland and the Honorable John
McDuffie, former Member of the House of Representatives of the United
States from the First District of Alabama, were the authors of the Act
of the Congress of the United States of March 24, 1934, otherwise known
as the Philippine Independence Act; and WHEREAS, for their unselfish service to human liberty and to the Filipino people, it is but proper that the Second Congress of the Republic of the Philippines, representing the Filipino people, should express the gratitude of said people to the Fathers of their independence by adopting them as sons of the Philippines and by conferring upon them all the rights, privileges, and prerogatives of Philippine citizenship; Now therefore, Section 1. The Honorable Millard E. Tydings, United States Senator from Maryland and the Honorable John McDuffie, former Member of the House of Representatives of the United States from the First District of Alabama, are hereby adopted as sons of the Philippines and by conferring upon them all the rights, privileges, and prerogatives of Philippine citizenship. Sec. 2. This Act shall take effect upon its
