Syllabus
The united States, as the second mortgagee of real estate judicially foreclosed and sold to satisfy the first mortgagee's lien in a proceeding in a state court to which the United States was made a party under 28 U.S.C. § 2410, can redeem the property, pursuant to § 2410(c), within one year from the date of sale, notwithstanding a conflicting state statute giving the mortgagor the exclusive right to redeem within that period. Pp. 364 U. S. 301-309.
