Invention Reporting and Rights October 2000 (a) As used in this provision: (1) The term “invention” means any invention or discovery which is or may be patentable or otherwise protectable under Title 35 of the United States Code, or any novel variety of plant which is or may be protected under the Plant Variety Protection Act (7 U.S.C. 2321 et seq.). (2) The term “made” when used in relation to any invention means the conception or first actual reduction to practice of such invention. (b) The Recipient shall report promptly to the grant officer each invention made in the performance of work under this grant. The report of such invention shall— (1) Identify the inventor(s) by full name; and (2) Include such full and complete technical information concerning the invention as is necessary to enable an understanding of the nature and operation thereof. (c) Reporting shall be made on NASA Form 1679 Disclosure of Invention and New Technology (Including Software). (d) The Recipient hereby grants to the Government of the United States of America, as represented by the Administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the full rights, title, and interest in and to each such invention throughout the world.
