Title 21 - Food and Drugs
(a) Chemical name. N′-(6-Chloro-3-pyridazinyl) sulfanilamide. (b) Specifications. Melting point range: 190 °C to 191 °C. (c) Sponsor. See No. 053501 in §510.600(c) of this chapter. (d) Related tolerances. See §556.630 of this chapter. (e) Conditions of use. It is used as follows: (1) Calves—(i) Amount. 30 to 45 milligrams per pound body weight per day. (ii) Indications for use. Treatment of diarrhea caused or complicated by E. coli (colibacillosis). (iii) Limitations. Administer as the sodium salt of sulfachlorpyridazine in milk or milk-replacer formulations for 1 to 5 days in divided doses twice daily; treated calves must not be slaughtered for food during treatment or for 7 days after the last treatment. A withdrawal period has not been established for this product in preruminating calves. Do not use in calves to be processed for veal. (2) Swine—(i) Amount. 20 to 35 milligrams per pound body weight per day. (a) Indications for use. Treatment of diarrhea caused or complicated by E. coli (colibacillosis). (b) Limitations. Administer as the sodium salt of sulfachlorpyridazine in drinking water for 1 to 5 days; for individual treatment, administer orally in divided doses twice daily; treated swine must not be slaughtered for food during treatment or for 4 days after the last treatment. (ii) Amount. 20 to 35 milligrams per pound body weight per day. (a) Indications for use. Treatment of diarrhea caused or complicated by E. coli (colibacillosis). (b) Limitations. Administer individually in an oral suspension containing 50 milligrams of sulfachlorpyridazine per milliliter in divided doses twice daily for 1 to 5 days; treated swine must not be slaughtered for food during treatment or for 4 days after the last treatment.
