The configuration of sleeping space and other living areas will vary according to the grade levels of the occupants; however, sleeping rooms shall provide sufficient space and privacy for the resident students. The following space and privacy requirements shall be required for dormitories. A dormitory shall be considered at capacity when the addition of one more student would put the school out of compliance with the space standard; and additional students shall not be admitted for residential purposes. (a) Dormitory facilities for grades one through eight shall have space footage averaging from 40 to 60 square feet per student for sleeping rooms, exclusive of furniture (wardrobe, desks, beds, etc.). (b) Dormitories housing students who are in grades nine through 12 shall provide sleeping rooms with a per student square footage averaging from 50 to 70 square feet, exclusive of furniture (wardrobe, desks, beds, etc.). (c) When new dormitories are constructed or existing dormitories are remodeled, sleeping rooms shall be constructed not to exceed a maximum of four students per room for grades one through 12. (d) Each peripheral dormitory shall have a set of encyclopedias, one dictionary for every ten students (ADM), and ten other general reference materials such as an atlas or periodical subscription.
