Title 46 - Shipping
Each applicant for an original “Tankerman-PIC” endorsement shall— (a) Be at least 18 years old; (b) Apply on a Coast Guard form; (c) Present evidence of passing a physical examination in accordance with §13.125; (d) Present evidence of service on tankships in accordance with §13.203; (e) Meet the requirement of a course on firefighting in §13.207; (f) Meet the requirement of a course in DL or LG appropriate for the endorsement applied for in §13.209; and (g) Be capable of speaking and understanding, in English, all instructions needed to commence, conduct, and complete a transfer of cargo, and be capable of reading the English found in the Declaration of Inspection, vessel response plans, and Cargo Information Cards.
