Title 46 - Shipping
Each applicant for a “Tankerman-Engineer” endorsement shall— (a) Be at least 18 years old; (b) Apply on a Coast Guard form; (c) Present evidence of passing a physical examination in accordance with §13.125; (d) Present evidence of service on tankships and self-propelled tank vessels in accordance with §13.503; (e) Meet the requirement of a firefighting course in §13.507; (f) Meet the requirement of a course in DL or LG appropriate for the endorsement applied for in §13.509; and (g) Be capable of speaking and understanding, in English, all instructions needed to commence, conduct, and complete a transfer of cargo.
