(a) This subpart contains— (1) Procedures for approval of noncombustible materials used in merchant vessel construction; (2) The test and measurements required for approval of materials; and (3) A list of noncombustible materials for which specific approval under this subpart is not required. (b) The test and measurements described in this subpart are conducted by a laboratory designated by the Commandant.
