Title 46 - Shipping
(a) Motions for enlargement of time for the filing of any pleading or other document, or in connection with the procedures of subpart L of this part, shall set forth the reasons for the motion and be submitted at least five (5) days before the scheduled date for filing. Except for good cause shown, failure to meet this time requirement may result in summary rejection of the request. (b) Such motions will be granted only under exceptional circumstances duly demonstrated in the request, and shall conform to the requirements of Subpart H of this part, except as to service if they show that the parties have received actual notice of the motion; and in relation to briefs, exceptions, and replies to exceptions, such motions shall conform to the further provisions of §§502.222 and 502.227. (c) Upon motion made after the expiration of the scheduled date, the filing may be permitted where reasonable grounds are found for the failure to file. (d) Replies to such motions for enlargement of time shall conform to the requirements of §502.74. [Rule 102.] [64 FR 7808, Feb. 17, 1999]
