SUBCHAPTER I-A--FAIR TRADE IN AUTOMOTIVE PARTS
Sec. 4705b. Establishment of Special Advisory Committee on
automotive parts sales in Japanese and other Asian markets
(a) In general
The Secretary of Commerce shall seek the advice of the United States
automotive parts industry in carrying out this subchapter.
(b) Establishment of Committee
The Secretary of Commerce shall establish a Special Advisory
Committee for purposes of carrying out this subchapter.
(c) Functions
The Special Advisory Committee established under subsection (b) of
this section shall--
(1) report to the Secretary of Commerce on barriers to sales of
United States-made automotive parts and accessories in Japanese and
other Asian markets;
(2) review and consider data collected on sales of United
States-made automotive parts and accessories in Japanese and other
Asian markets;
(3) advise the Secretary of Commerce during consultations with
other governments on issues concerning sales of United States-made
automotive parts in Japanese and other Asian markets;
(4) assist in establishing priorities for the initiative
established under section 4705a of this title, and otherwise provide
assistance and direction to the Secretary of Commerce in carrying
out the intent of that section; and
(5) assist the Secretary in reporting to Congress by submitting
an annual written report to the Secretary on the sale of United
States-made automotive parts in Japanese and other Asian markets, as
well as any other issues with respect to which the Committee
provides advice pursuant to this subchapter.
(d) Authority
The Secretary of Commerce shall draw on existing budget authority in
carrying out this subchapter.
