Title 32 - National Defense
Subject to the approval or guidance of the Secretary of the Navy, the Civilian Executive Assistants, the Chief of Naval Operations, the Commandant of the Marine Corps and the Staff Assistants are individually authorized to organize, assign and reassign responsibilities within their respective commands or offices, including the establishment and disestablishment of such component organizations as may be necessary, subject to the following: (a) The authority to disestablish may not be exercised with respect to any organizational component of the Department established by law. (b) The Secretary retains the authority to approve the establishment and disestablishment of shore activities.
